Limerick Voice Newspaper
As part of my studies at the University of Limerick, I was given the role of photo editor for a semester with the Limerick Voice Newspaper – a paper created by the BA Journalism and New Media, and MA Journalism students in the University.
In this role, I was working closely with the journalists as well as other editors by discussing news stories and deciding what type of image would suit best with the story. I was tasked with sourcing images or capturing images that would best tell the story.
This gave me an opportunity to work alongside other journalists as well as working by myself; giving me creative freedom while also gaining a greater understanding of the story and the direction the writer was looking to take the article in.
When the newspaper was finally produced and printed, I had my work featured on the front page as well as throughout the paper with both an image and a news story byline on the cover.
